Our Foundation
SCA was founded in 1988 in Lafayette, Louisiana, by respected geoscientist Daniel J. Tearpock.
Dan recognized that the industry needed more than technical advice. It needed practical methodologies that could improve how subsurface professionals interpreted data, evaluated opportunities, and made critical decisions.
That vision led to the publication of Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping, which became one of the industry's most influential technical references and established the foundation for SCA's consulting and capability development approach.
